How to get to eKohPhangan
Koh Phangan can be reached from airports at Koh Samui or Surat
Thani, both of which have air links to Bangkok. Flights
to Koh Samui are via Bangkok Air or Thai Airways. Surat
Thani airport is used by several airlines including Thai Airways,
Air Asia and Nok Air, note that Nok and Air Asia fly from BKK
domestic airport, about a 45 minute taxi drive
from Suvarnabhum International airport. Both Koh Samui
and Surat Thani airports offer limited direct international flights
from certain countries.
Overnight trains run from BKK to Surat
Thani, and combination train/ferry tickets can be purchased as can
combination bus/ferry tickets.
Taxis are freely available at both Thong Sala and Haad Rin
ferry terminals to Baan Tai (100-200 thb). Ask to be taken to Baan
Tai, and preferably Wat Khao Tam ... we are situated about 200m
from the main road turnoff and half way between Baan Tai beach and
Wat Khao Tam.
Our eco friendly suggestions:
1. Our houses are 'Thai style' designed around building
principles developed over many centuries to suit the Thai
environment... Windows create a cross flow of air, open them.
If required, use the fan, but sparingly... only in desperation use
the air con (but with Windows and doors closed)
2. We capture rainwater ... Use this in the outside sinks for
washing dishes and clothes, .... use internal piped water
sparingly.... Water is a limited and valuable resource in
Thailand
3. Minimise electrical usage .... Electricity suppy on Phangan
can be eratic at times!
4. Transport... walking is good for you! We are less
than 0.5 km from Baan Tai pier and so is an easy stroll. Tuk tuks
and taxis are readily available and ply between Thong Sala and Haad
Rin (100-200 thb to either). Bicycles, scooters, motorbikes and
cars are all available for rent on the island at reasonable cost.
We have several pedal bikes available for use, subject to
availability... please ask.
5. Thailand offers guests some of the most delicious food in
the world, often using local fresh produce. Where possible buy
locally produced food and drink (try Singha or Chang beers rather
than imports). Thong Sala has many excellent food outlets including
an organic farmers co-operative and nightly food market.
6. Take garbage away with you, collect it off beaches and
paths, bin it! Join the Facebook group 'Green Cross Beach Clean'
and join us in keeping the island litter free.
We support local environmental initiatives,
particularly EcoThailand.org, Trash Hero and Green
Cross Beach Clean.
Enjoy the superb views and walks from the local temple
grounds. When meditation retreats are in progress please be
respectful, quiet and observe the Wat instructions to
visitors.
Baan Tai has numerous restaurants and coffee shops and several
7-11 stores within walking distance of eKohPhangan. Taxis to Haad
Rin and Thong Sala can be picked up on the main road.
Video Selection
Koh Phangan has been designated into 5 key areas, our
accommodation is centrally located at Baan Tai making all zones
easily accessible, check out the videos of each:
Check out the wealth of activities on the island
For the party people ... We are coveniently situated for a
short taxi ride to Haad Rin for the Full Moon party, and the Half
Moon, Jungle Experience, Shiva Moon and Black Moon parties are held
in the Baan Tai area itself! Koh Phangan has so much more to offer
than a party night, why not stay for extra days, weeks... or
months... and discover this tropical paradise?
Please note that rental is significantly higher around full
moon nights. Enjoy the party, but we ask that our home is respected
and treated well. Any damages are chargable, fluorescent body paint
is particularly difficult to remove from furniture and
bedding!
